Claude Thelier is a local figure in the Caribbean. He has more than 30 years of experience as a rigger and is a highly successful racer, still racing maxis and catamarans in major regattas. With a team of 15 staff, they can perform any installation or rigging maintenance / repair works. They can look after any hydraulics problems with access to a huge hydraulics parts stock; and are agents for Sparcraft, Navtec, Acmo, Facnor, and GP 3 rudder bearings.

General Mecanique Marine

We received a whole round of good recommendations for Yves Hecq and his company General Mecanique Marine, who were said to be reliable and very competent. As agents for Caterpillar, Onan / Cummins, Lombardini, Eliche Radice (propellers) and Technodrive invertors, amongst others, they carry out the full range of mechanical repairs and welding / fabrication works from their workshop based within Marina Bas-du-Fort. They are also official agents for Quicksilver, Mercury and Mercruiser outboard engines.

Altec Marine

This welding / fabrication business is run by Franck Ballossier; who had previously spent 20 years as a professional yacht Captain and Project Manager of new builds in France - so has a real understanding of the needs of the professionally crewed yacht market. He has now been running his custom welding / fabrication shop - here in the Carenantilles Boatyard - for the past 6 years; where, with his team of ten staff, they offer the full range of services including fabricating bimini frames, helm wheels; welding and pressurized pipes..

St.Barth Boatyard

Per and Alf are the Swedish gentlemen running this shipyard located in Public, NW of Gustavia. The shipyard, built in concrete, is equipped with a 55 ton crane, to lift boats for prop works etc, that can also transport boats - of up to 26 tons - back to their yard, where they can take on a variety of works including carpentry jobs of any size (including teak decking), fibreglass and paintworks; and mechanical engineering, including outboard motor servicing / repairs. They also have security lighting, power, compressed air and water and are Volvo sales and service agents.
